PSG has now secured the prestigious cup on fourteen different occasions.
Paris Saint-Germain needed a dramatic leveler followed by a successful spot-kick decider to get past Marseille in Kuwait and secure a fourth straight French Super Cup title.
The European champions appeared to be sailing towards a comfortable win in the match between the French league winners and the French Cup holders after the French winger found the scoring in the opening stages.
Yet, Marseille fired two times in the closing moments to take a surprise lead. Initially, the English forward scored from the spot-kick, before the defender inadvertently directed the ball into his own net for an own-goal.
In a remarkable turn of events, Goncalo Ramos snatched a crucial equaliser in the final moments to send the contest into a deciding shootout. PSG goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier then emerged as the hero, stopping crucial kicks from O'Riley and Traore.
From the spot, Ramos, the midfielder, Nuno Mendes, and the young talent all scored successfully for PSG to seal a 4-1 shootout win.
Now 14-time champions PSG, who faced last season's Ligue 1 second-placed team Marseille after completing a domestic double, have now lifted this competition for the twelfth time in the past thirteen years.
